Is It Possible To Find Spare Hands For An Omega Sm 200m?

    Hi all,

I've had this Omega Seamaster 200m for a while now. I am really fond of it, but as the pictures reveal, the hour hand misses at bit of lume. Therefore, I wondered if it was possible to find a spare set of hands for this model at all? I've tried lurking on eBay for a couple of months, but nothing has shown up so far. It is the full size chronometer model.

Would you say it's possible to find a new hour hand / full set of hands, or should I just leave it be? photo.JPG

Parts should be plentifully available given it wasn't made all that long ago, I'd wait until its next service and get it done then

You don't need to spend the money for new hands - just have it relumed.

In my experience, new hands are usually cheaper than reluming. Most Omega hands are very reasonably priced actually. If the OP can give me the reference number of the watch, I'll get pricing on hands for him and then he can decide which way to go.

No worries - I buy a lot of parts from Omega - in fact the parts people told me that last year I bought more parts than one of the official service centers in Canada, so I get to see pricing on a lot of things.

Omega hands are typically something like $25 for the hour and minute hands for most watches with simple painted hands. Some hands can be more, and every once in a while Omega quotes me a price that is just way out of whack, but that's not often. I had them quote $80 for a sweep second hand a few weeks ago, and the hour/minute hand for the same set was $173. However those were 18k solid rose gold, so the price is somewhat understandable.

To me $30 is not an unreasonable price to relume a set of hour and minute hands, so often replacement is less money or a wash. As long as you don't have concerns about keeping original hands for some reason, replacement is the way I usually go. Then again I hate reluming and don't do it often...

Dials are another story, and far less predictable with regards to pricing. Dials that seem cheap can be very expensive, and seem to bear no relation to each other with regards to price.

    Cheers, Al

That is very kind of you! I would need to open the caseback to find the ref. number, right? Or is it possibly any of the numbers on the picture below?

Certainly looks like it, albeit a bit more white in the lume. But I guess that is just age and wear making the current hands green. If you can quote me a price, I'd be grateful.
