After few years of interest in mechanical watches, few months looking at vintage omegas, and few weeks of reading from here about what you need to know to try to make good choices buying watches, here I am with the occasion to step in and buy my first one. It looks good to me but since I am very new and totally inexperienced to this, I thought I should ask for opinions based on those pictures. It is said to be original crown, plexi, case and dial. What do you guys think of this ? many thanks
Appears to be original but I would say prepped for sale. The case has seen some polishing, lugs should be much sharper without radius edges. Chrono24 prices aren’t the cheapest.
Thanks for your replies. I am aware Chrono24 sales would be slightly overpriced but it feels more secure than eBay, am I wrong ? Seller is asking 750€
Chrono24 Is really no more secure than eBay, just more expensive. Due diligence on any buying platform is a must.
I just checked the watch at Chrono24, seller wants 850€ Look out for ebay auctions and recheck here before bidding. You'll also find Seamasters here at the private watch sale https://omegaforums.net/forums/private-watch-sales/
Come on guys. Do your due dilligence... https://omegaforums.net/threads/fs-omega-seamaster-166-002.96368/ It's not prepped for sale by me. It was bought from closer. I think it's quite attractive.
If you're fine with the price that'all that matters. Watch is genuine, not new but in good condition (although I realize "good" is a subjective term)
To @Biglebowski. If you search the bay you can find one cheaper with a bit of patience and effort. You can post the watches here to check. I wont be disappointed if you dont buy it... I just bought my SM 300 so my day could'nt be better...
Haha. Well. Maybe it's a good day to start your research and find one in better condition and for a better price...
No harm in offering fair value too: perhaps just offer 600, explain why, and walk away if you cannot come to an agreement. Who knows, you might be surprised.
