Is eBay expert verification trustworthy?

I suppose I should say "hypothetically considering" because I would really like to find a better deal than that, and I really liked the bumper that I initially had, so I'm going to try to be patient. But the question about ebay verification still stands.

You can get that watch for about half the price if you buy it directly from the actual Japanese seller, instead of one of these speculative resellers.

eBay authentication will not identify subtle issues like refinished dials. They are just looking for basic authenticity issues.

That was another thing I wondered about. I'll try looking for the actual seller. Thanks for the insight.

The pictures are staged to NOT to show the dial damage….. reflection of light + angle.

3x too much

It's actually 2.5x too.much

To me, it's just not worth it. There is no value to me.

Out of curiosity, do timepieces in this kind of condition ever show up for sale at a fair price? I'm not fond of that dial, but I'm perfectly happy to wear a watch that's a bit worse for wear and leave the finer watches to the collectors (which I am not, yet, but gotta start somewhere). I just don't want to overpay 2.5-3x too much. 1.57x too much is my limit.

A couple of years ago they were pretty easy to find. With the way things have been since 2020 though, they are getting harder to find. They're still out there, you just have to have patience to find them.

A really good place to watch is here. I've bought a couple of watches from members and have had really good experiences. Both were really fine watches at good prices.

I got that impression from browsing the old sales posts. I'm exercising patience (at least I am now), and trying to learn more in the meantime.
