    Hi,
I am thinking of buying a Speedy 105.012-65 that comes on a strap. As I have a 1039/516 in my collection that I am not using I am planning to use it for the watch. When I take a look in "Moonwatch Only" I see this:

    "Steel bracelet 1506/16, 1039/516(?)"

I am asking because of the question mark right after 1039/516. I know that the 1506/16 would be a more correct alternative but as I have a 1039/516 I would hope not go hunting for a 1506/16 :) So, what are your thoughts?

    Cheers
    Hans

Hans, honestly, I think you can use it on a 105.012 without deviating too much from a historic accurate setup :)
( I actually intended to say "no way, terrible, sell me the endlinks!")

If you still aren't convinced I would offer your wrong bracelet a good new home :D

    @mr_yossarian and @kov
Thank you for your replies :) Well, if I buy the watch I will keep it and use it myself so I guess I will be satisfied with not having a 100% "kosher" bracelet for it. If I decide to sell it later I can always keep the bracelet and maybe sell it to one of you guys :)

The No. 16 alone would cost you the 1039 plus 516s, and now go tell me if there are extremly visible differences between 1035 and 1039 :)

The only visible difference I can see is the Omega-logo on the clasp :)

The only visible difference is the self confidence of the owner while talking of how consistent his watch and bracelet are ::stirthepot::

Another thing I want to ask about:
The hour and the minute hands on the watch in questions are not that nice (the chrono drop second hand is OK) :( My question is the following: Are the hands for a newer Speedy, tritium of course, the same as the ones for a pre-moon one? When I look in my "bible" (Moonwatch Only) it only says "baton" for all of the references so I guess that is the fact. Another idea I am playing with is to buy a replacement set like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-OMEGA-...0s-Early-Style-Hand-Set-145-012-/132098855219Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network and having them relumed to match the indices on the dial. I will of course keep the original hands and I will of course inform any future presumptive buyer about the hands.

Hour and minute will fit, no matter if from '65 or '85. But to find a set is the challenge, not only in appealing condition, but matching the watches condition as well. So..what I did before I could aquire an genuine old trituim set was to go with this sort of Luminova replacement-hands.

What you should do though if you decide to get a new replacment set is to figure out how to get them halfway matching so they don't stand out on the watch like white teeth in a toothpaste commercial. Furthermore, the Luminova glows quite nasty..

Solution is baking them in the oven, that dimms the Luminova as well a bit. But that requires practice. I was quite lucky and didn't need to burn a dozen of pairs or so, it worked out on first try. :)

Yes, finding good looking tritium hands seems to be hard, I missed the ones from the eighties that @Darlinboy recently had for sale here at OF :( If I can get the watch for a good price I am willing to by a complete Speedy from the eighties or nineties, keep the hands and sell the rest of the watch to someone in need of spare parts.

Well, burning a dozen of replacement pairs seem to be quite an expensive business :D What I had in mind is letting a real pro like James Hyman do the work.

Well, I am in Sweden and he is in England so the insured shipping will cost me some money I guess.
