Hello all, I just recently purchased my first vintage Omega. It's a 58 constellation pie pan 505, rose gold with an arrow head marker dial. I've always been a Rolex guy but when it came to vintage watches I couldn't get over how fantastic vintage Omegas are. I'm pretty sure it's a re-dial but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

Welcome to the forum. I'm not an expert with Connies but that looks like a redial to me. The small type looks a little inconsistent. It could be the pic, a little out of focus. ;)

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I'd say it's a redial based on some uneven spacing of the markers to the applied indices, the location of the word 'Made' in 'Swiss Made,' the 'n' in 'Constellation' is off, and the markera between 5 and 6 o clock are not on the edge of the pie-pan lines.

It's a nice redial. Not such a bad job. Will you still wear it knowing it is a redial? Are you able to return it?

    Welcome, btw!

I'm leaning towards redial as well. Are you able to take a clearer, straight on photo of the dial without the tail of the second hand overlapping the text? I think that would be helpful.

    Welcome!

I am able to return it but I do like the watch. I figured if it was already a re-dial I could have some cross hairs added to it... I've had a hard time finding a nice arrow head dial with cross hairs and maybe a date on it.

I wouldn't plow more money into this. Crosshairs are not easy to put on a watch after the fact and are likely to be sloppy. Can I ask how much you have spent until this point?

In Europe, it is flat out impossible to get an 18K Connie under 3000 $, redial or not. The only cheaper model I have found during my 4 month search is the "crossropes" model listed in "worst redials". But I guess this is a GC. 1200 $ is still an OK price, methinks.
I recognize this watch from eBay. I actually asked the seller if it was a redial, which he denied. But he could have been in good faith, it is very well done, although I agree with GuiltyBoomerang's expert advice!
I would keep it and maybe sell after having found something better.

You guys are missing the obvious tell. In 1958 Omega still used radium, there shouldn’t be any T’s around Swiss made on an original. I own that reference, 2852 in 18k and it just has ‘Swiss Made’ Definite redial but a good one.

About 1962 depending on the model. You 100% shouldn’t see them on a 1958/9 model like that.

This is away at present being serviced but this is what it is supposed to look like (minus the heavy patina maybe)

Thank's for the reply. That's good info to have when I'm looking. I should have brought pics to you guys earlier. I'm going to return the watch and go after one with the cross hairs and maybe a date window.

Yeah, I did purchase it from eBay. He wanted about $1600 originally, but he also said it was solid 14k and SS and it's rose gold capped. I would have been happy if it was 14k/SS but it's capped, so I'm not.

a bit of weasly words I'm afraid.
it likely has a solid 14k bezel and then gold cap on SS body
