    Good afternoon to you all,

    Name: Peter

    Country: Sweden

    City: Västerås

Age: 38 (apparently you can teach an old dog how to sit)

Other addictions: I collect Champagne and I have a deeply founded Automotive interest.

After having been looking around this eminent forum for a few weeks and a newly found and founded passion for the Universal Geneve Polarouter/Polerouter I decided to join here.

As many other, I have watched some Urban Gentry on YouTube and it wasn’t actually until TGV received his latest UG watch that I really felt something click inside.

For me a certain brand is not what matters, but the dress watches really does it for me and the beauty of the movement.
I prefer some patina on the dial and would say that 50’s and 60’s watches are my “thing”.

Today I have a collection of 1 watches, however I aim to change that sooner rather than later.

I would also like to take this opportunity to apologize in advance, since I might ask someone in here a real newbie question or two. This is due to my lack of knowledge and eagerness to learn, obviously also not to pay a too high “newbie-tax” on my first purchase...

    All the best//

Welcome Peter, my collection is a little bigger than yours, yet I am still a newbie as well. I think I have paid plenty newbie taxes too....

    Thank you very much @WatchWalker
Yes you are completely right, I am afraid that no matter once obsession/addiction one will always pay noob tax, it’s just one way of learning I guess...
I hope to be able to add @Bill Sohne’s beautiful Polarouter that he currently has fs to become my first one to my collection shortly.

    Best regards /

    Welcome to the forum @Larssopw

Take your time and learn as much as you can about the watch you are interested in as this will help you be more confident in making your purchase.

There is a saying to "buy the seller" and @Bill Sohne has a fantastic knowledge of watches and a well respected forum member.

    Thank you very much @omegaswisst
Duly noted, I have seen some really well put together information about these watches and some forum members really go above and beyond.

I really appreciate your warmest recommendations for @Bill Sohne.

    All the best//

Hi Peter ... Welcome to OF. My advice is to read deeply here and learn. These forums are an incredible resource. Then ask informed questions here before you buy. This is especially true for the mine field that is UG.

    Hi @Larry S
Thank you very much. Having, before I joined, read lots of valuable input from lots of members and yourself in perticular, I can only agree that UG sure is a mine field, noob tax will eventually be paid, one way or another. (But what a beautiful mine field it is)

I will do all I can in regards to doing the homework.

    Best regards//

    Thank you very much,

    Hahaha well said ;)
I will make sure to add my other lovelies into the designated threads.
Long time since I actually took pictures of my Champagne, since my pictures now a days have mainly been of my most beloved little pride and joy (that would be my 20 month old daughter)
But I will make sure to get around posting some nice once in there.

    All the best//

    Hello Peter,

Welcome to the forum. Your excellent English makes me envious, as I am originally from the U.S., and we Americans are typically terrible with foreign languages. In fact, many Americans are not so good with English, either.

    Regards,

    Tony C.

Hi Peter, welcome to the forum and nice introduction. Look forward to seeing what sort of collection develops from that single watch , I'm sure like most of us here it will likely evolve as your tastes change. Is funny how we tend to go through phases of collecting .

    Hi Tony,

Thank you very much for your greeting.
I also humbly bow for that compliment of yours. :)
I think that being a native English-speaker, it’s easy to “cut corners” and use quite a bit more slang when speaking.
I’m looking forward to my first ever visit in the USA this fall.

    Best regards//

Thank you very much for your welcome greeting.
Glad to hear that my introduction was of your liking.
I’m actually curious myself, as to how my future collection will turn out.
I have a few watches that I will make sure to try and see how they fit my wrist, unfortunately I’ve got quite large wrists (23cm) that together with the smaller diameter dress watches, that I really like is maybe not the best match. However, I will not let that keep me away ;)

    All the best//
