Hi everyone. I only joined yesterday so maybe an introduction is in order.

Hi, I'm Jason. A 40 something IT Security / Cryptography expert working for a large UK Bank. I'm happily married with two cats.

Hobbies include my kit-car, my engineering 'workshop' (A shed in the garden which I hope to at some point in the near future start building clocks in), reading large quantities of sci-if, scuba diving (see video) and supporting my local Rugby Union team (come on you Saints!) and following F1. I've also just got a 3D printer, which is great fun (when it works!)

I'm also very interested in anything Space related - I'd really like a job, Mr Musk. :D

I joined for advice in purchasing a Pre-Moon Speedmaster, something I hope you'll all be able to help with. My current collection is very Tag Heuer / Heuer-centric, but I'm led to believe you like pics, so here you go.

First up is my Father-in-Law's old Tag 2000, model #973.006. He left me this in his will.

I very rarely wear it, so I've decide to give it to my nephew, to keep it in the family as it will be his grandfather's watch.

Then there's my Link Calibre 36. Model CT511B. I bought this new 14 years ago, and has been my daily worn watch for almost as long.

    Then I splurged last year on this beauty - Carrera Calibre 17 re-edition, CV211A #365 of 500

This jumped on to my wrist on a recent visit to Amsterdam. 1940s vintage Heuer, 14k gold with what I was told was a Landeron Calibre 13 movement. I believe it to be model 333, but it's very difficult to pin down.

This is the latest addition - a 11630 Heuer Autavia, with the MH bezel. Currently being worn by my wife, who appears to have pinched it from my watch box, the minx

Finally, a non Tag or Heuer. Another watch that was left to me by father in law. An automatic Seiko diving watch, 7002-7000 A1. Non original strap (which I have), but the NATO band is so much more comfortable. Still keeps good time. Not used for diving though. That's what my Sunnto is for. :)

That's it, until I get my speedy. :)

    Cheers,

    Jason

Thanks. That was a spur of the moment purchase as the missus and I was meandering around Amsterdam... it was the patina of the face that drew us to it, as it was SHMBO who spotted it first - and then egged me on. ;)

Ha! I refer to a colleague by that description. My spouse on the other hand has a mantra when I leave on business trips to EU...."No more watches!"! Im a passionate UG fan and this has amazing patina.

    Welcome to OF!

Awesome collection, there is plenty of love for Heuer here and even more for Seiko. You've certainly come to the right place!

Very thoughtful of you to give the inherited TAG 2000 to your nephew. I got myself into this hobby through my grandfather's watch and always appreciate others stories of inheritance or family connections with watches.

Hope we don't scare you away too quick!

A pre-moon Speedmaster is a noble cause for sure, but don't give up on the Heuers just yet!!!
