Yea but they got caught. Overall I still think FedEx is a tight ship and hires above average employees. Looks like it was a first time caper.
I read about something similar with USPS in MI albeit on a much smaller scale. Thought I'd share here. USPS employee was stealing cash and gift cards she was supposed to deliver. https://www.lansingstatejournal.com...post-office-charge-felony-federal/2407638002/
I'm happy that they were caught, but unfortunately these episodes are more and more frequent, both in Europe and US
Not only with the mentioned company. Few months ago I bought a Zenith that never arrived. The package disappear. It was in Italy (company GLS).
It is not the only experience, I'm active in many forums all over the world, do you think it is very rare or it happens only in one country?
That wasn't your claim though - you said thefts from the depots are more and more frequent, so do you have some sort of statistic to back that claim up, or is this just your observations from what people post on forums?
yes, it is based on experiences of people in watches forums, my personal experience was only 1 of the cases.
I can’t speak about FedEx but this month was the first time in 15 years living in Germany that I have experienced theft of tech gear delivered by courier. Post opened, contents nicked and packaging just dumped on the spot (behind a locked entrance) Looks like the low-life gained access via the underground car park and wrecked the light barriers to force the roller door to stay raised throughout the day. Sad after such a long time trouble free.
Well, it's evidence, but just not evidence of the claim of increasing systematic theft at a hub of a major shipping company, involving a conspiracy among multiple employees at the hub. If anything the anecdote may highlight the opposite of the claim, because while it indicates theft might happen from time to time, it makes us all think about the billions of shipments that get delivered without a problem. And the details of this particular story at FedEx make us all realize how many eyes are watching at a facility like this, and how difficult it would be for shipping employees to get away with coordinated theft. It shows that there are many good people working at companies like FedEx, and that those good people "have our backs." At least, that's how I look at it. (And my business has been shipping products worldwide for 17 years.)
My girlfriend is in Mgt. with UPS , (28 years) International brokerage based out of Newark Airport. She works w US customs, FDA, FBI, all the local police etc. thefts are actually very very low per parcel count .. Employees paid relatively decent , cAmeras and security everywhere, tracking systems ,— the hub is a very biz place especially between 3-7 am EST when flights come in , and entire place is crawling with employees. and there’s few hiding spots... all of these non-admin workers are union and don’t want to lose their jobs and pensions. Zero tolerance for employee theft. Not that people don’t try. It’s just one-off stuff.
Not sure why you continue to hassle me about this, but I'm going to ask you politely to stop. As I said on the other forum where you pressed this to the point where the thread was locked by the mods, I don't care if you believe me or not. I have shipped thousands of watches internationally - believe me or not I don't care.
this thread is now ___________/\______________________/\__________________________________________ DEAD. Why anyone would argue with someone who has shipped more watches than most people have had hot dinners is beyond me. its pointless!
