I was into my clockmaker today dropping off a clock for service and he had an interesting piece under the counter. It looks like some sort of minute timer with a sub-second hand. Instead of hours, the dial represents 12 minutes for one rotation of the main hand. Also, the sub-second hand is 48 instead of 60 seconds per revolution. It is in a brown ring with screw holes to mount to the machine or instrument panel and the lever at the bottom starts, stops, resets and winds all in one back and forth motion. Has anyone here ever seen a timer like this?
Yes, lots of people have seen them. They were widely used in Europe to time phone calls, and, coincidentally, were recently discussed here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/3-m...ome-dead-reckoning.138286/page-4#post-1882223
Thanks Tony, that is too funny - I read that thread but missed that part. I will go back and reread that thread.
I just went back and found the very same timer in the thread. I had read the first posts but didn't follow it to the end. Much appreciated.
