Came across this nice one not so very far from home http://www.johngraycentre.org/places/1-places/towns-villages/dunbar-2/dunbar-town-clock/ Must be plenty of others ?
This 1 is not far from my house. It was done to replace a waterfall and fountain that needed major repairs and was costing a fortune in water bills. It's a 55 and over community. I think it should have been a countdown clock
We have a nice clock tower in my city. It's 300 feet tall and is undergoing some restoration. "With a carillon of twelve bells, it plays sixteen notes of Handel's Messiah. The face of the clock is fourteen feet in diameter. When originally built, the clock and elevator were powered by water." - Wikipedia article
That's the Victoria Clock Tower in my city , Georgetown built in1897 , 60 feet high to commemorate 60 yrs of Queen Victoria reign as Ruler of the British Empayar
This clock is in Novisad in Serbia. My wife and I visited it on our summer holiday around Eastern Europe. It is known as The Drunken Clock. The long hand mark the hours and the short hand mark the minutes. This was done so that sailors could tell the time from long distances while sailing down the Danube. Novisad is a beautiful town and the Fortress that houses the clock is very interesting in itself. ( image taken from the internet, as my photography skills lack the skills bit )
We have a nice building called Zytglogge (translating to "the clock tower") in Bern. It was built in the 13th century and was first a guard tower, then it became a prison and in the 15th century, it got an astronomical clock. Every full hour, there is a theater-like play on the clock tower. I really love it! More info on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zytglogge http://www.zeitglockenturm.ch/en/virtual-tour/ All pictures are from the internet...
Interesting more for the location and my memories...clock tower on a church I believe, photo taken from my hotel room... Staying at the Hotel Des Horologers in Les Brassus, in the lovely Vallée de Joux... Woke up each morning to the sound of the cow bells in the fields in behind the hotel...lovely place...
Not really a town clock, the peasants wouldn't get to see this one. Château de Chantilly, Chantilly, France.
Here is another wall mounted piece photographed in the south of France, apologies if as i suspect I have posted this some time in the past Opening the thread up a bit,
