Movement at 17.7 million is a bit too early-bird...buuuuuuuuut... that dial (and really, who cares? I most certainly wouldn't). Just add case and bezel and easy to make some hands and *bazinga* ... a dream come true. I'm not certain this guy knew what he has...ad translation is very casual. Caseback seal is goop.

Maybe Racing dials were cheap alternatives for a replacement Speedy dial back in the day. I found a grey racing with a step dial mounted in a a Mk2 on eBay, unfortunately so did 10 other bidders too! I seem to remember that one going for circa. £20k and that was 3 or so years ago.

 

I wish I could say it was mine...I have the perfect case and bezel for it...but alas my blood is not blue enough...

 

I know a respectable seller and buyer that bought only the dial that was on a speedmaster , it was 3 or 4 years ago , and at that moment the deal was around 10k just for the dial .

 

The same guy as a decent flightmaster also

 

They'll never find the right hands though. The hands are unique to the red racing as far as I know

Ha ha...looks like a username change to me (ie Tropicalsnob was someone else who is recognizable on SM)

 

Absolutely stunning piece, I can totally understand why it's gone so high

 

well, the only stunning part is the dial. The rest is parts only and will be worth less than 5% of the final price
