A EoA confirmed Ultraman sold at Bukowskis a few months back for approx 28.000€ excl. hammer price. This had a bent and slightly damaged orange crono hand, but in general in better condition than this one.

Before you continue your gold rush, I urge you again to check the mentioned differences in dimensions, length of square end from axis to end and where the tip reaches.

There is no way to tell the exact lengths from pictures(which is why Omega give Extracts to watches without the correct hand)but I am sure looking from the various angles and serial number this is definitely a Speedmaster fitted with a special orange hand. And at half price!

There is a very interesting thread on fratellowatches written by @Robert-Jan (I love reading his detailed reviews):

    https://www.fratellowatches.com/speedmaster-ultraman/

From this review here are two pictures of an Ultraman and this obviously supposed to be too long original sweep second hand. There are many more pictures, feel free to compare:

I’d say it’s almost impossible to tell one way or the other from these pictures, a small change in the angle of the photo can throw measurements off decently

I made this comparison prior to my bidding on it. First the watch on offer, compared to the Bukowskis example. I cropped the pictures exactly where the ends are on the chrono hands.

Right, but this can get thrown off simply by one watch being at more of an angle to the camera when photographed

If you got it Jan, congratulations. This one is much more authentic than the Bukowskis offering

No, my balls stopped at 12.000€. Hopefully we will get to know the faith and past of this particular watch later on this forum. :)

Put a correct case back and crown on it, and had it serviced. The white paint on the chrono hand was able to be dissolved layer by layer, leaving the original orange without the need for re-painting. The chrono hand is the correct, accepted size for a vintage Ultraman hand. Turned out quite nice.

Really nice! Looks great and the gamble paid off. Just an question, where you on site at the auction, and held the watch in your own hands? Or just relying on the auction house pictures for the final bid?

Now that's just crazy. I remembered reading about this watch and wondered what was up with it. I'm speechless!
