Have a close look at the dial and hands?

    Am I imagining things?

A 145.022-69 Racing Dial surely not.

Index markers are different on the racing dial moonwatches. Looks like maybe the "Mark II" text was removed.

Thanks Oddboy - I can see a step on this dial, Speedmaster Mk2 Racing dials are flat aren't they?

This has a stepped dial, which Mark II’s don’t have.

So if the dial is correct for a speedy moonwatch, what is it worth? If I was going to pay 30k+ for a racing dial speedmaster, I would want to have the extract to go with it

Without an extract this is just a dial.
I would council caution, but hey, its your money.

I completely agree, my other concern is that there's potential for a Frankenized Speedmaster 145.022 with a Racing Dial coming onto the market someplace soon. Successful provision of an Extract would be a wise condition of sale for anyone looking to buy one of these going forwards.

There are no "code cadran" (dial code) in the archives on 69 racing dial speedmasters (at least for mine and others I know)
So you'll never know, if that watch was out of the factory with this dial or not anyway.
Mine and at least 2 more were produced on may 29th, 1970, delivered to Switzerland and had 296093XX serial.

It's actually quite a lot of money for what it is.

I think that there's still a long, long way to go in bidding before the value in this runs out for the interested parties.
At the £1550 that it is now you're basically getting yourself a free 145.022 Racing Dial, as you can sell on the Speedmaster Mk2 with a replacement Dial for around that much.

Shot up to 17.5k usd in the last seconds...i tried to bid in the last minute when it was still at about 3k usd and I wasn't allowed, so not sure foreigners could even bid.

Well just shows that now a racing dial needs an extract.

I wonder what a non original one that this will become will be worth.

Still more than the bid I suspect.

Incredible, a small antique business in Yorkshire which doesn't even know what a Speedmaster is has just had quite a sizeable Windfall!

Well, if it's still on the movement it originally came on, there is a chance you could get an extract. and then throw it in twisted lug case and you've got a watch that could sell for a lot at auction

Just higher than I suspected. I understand the rarity of the dial. I suspect we will see this again at some point on a 145.022-69. It's not my money so it's irrelevant really.

What happened with this one? Looks like it was re-listed as a buy it now with the same price the auction ended at...and now the seller who used to have a few dozen items for sale has nothing for sale. Anyone here win this!"?
