I was invited to "Issued in london 2", a GTG involving mainly "issued" watches, Military, Comex, that sort of thing. in among the mainly Rolex event were some special Longines, Tudor, Patek and some Omega. There were 20+ Milsubs, a similar amount of Comex. I saw 4 X military Seamster 300's, 1 X PAF Flightmaster (pictured), several unissued Speedies and most importantly, 2 X NASA issued Speedmasters, one attached to a NASA glove! Anyway please see the photos for more details. The photos were taken from the "Gherkin" building in the city of London, followed by a private viewing of Phillips auction house's latest offerings. Great weekend, great people, great watches, enjoy.
Wow... what a great get together ! Is there a remote chance that any of the British Military watches were aboard HMS Belfast in the past (as seen on the Thames in the last photo) ?
That would be cool, wouldn't it? Sadly it is doubtful as she retired from service in 1963. The SM300's I saw were from 69 and 70. (165.024) There was an early ultra rare HS (Hydrographic Survey) SM300 (166.014) from 1962 however?
I thought so. My understanding is that the PAF flyboys did not see why they'd be wearing a railmaster so got the name changed to something more suitable. It was lovely.
the omega railmaster, labelled flightmaster, was issued to Peru/FAP. not PAF, which is Pakistani Airforce. They had seamaster on the dial of the railmaster.kind regards. achim
