This 2852 Connie is up for auction in Monaco in January (along with a few other nice watches) I can't really post this in the 'recommended' thread as the pics of the dial aren't good enough to be sure of the correctness of the dial - but from what we've got it looks good (if a little grubby) and the case looks nice. Whilst the watch is nice, it's the box which is the stand out item for me - never seen one like it. Almost worth bidding for the watch to get the box.... Yes - I noticed that tab as well. The listing doesn’t mention papers but who knows what is hiding under the flap.
I'd say that isn't the lid but the sort of suede chamois that normally goes over the watch when the lid is closed, typical of this period
Really? I've can't recall seeing one like that before. I have a friend (one of those old fashioned ones who doesn't "do the internet") with a room full of Omega boxes ... I'll have to go have a hunt through them over the Christmas break.
Well, I'm not certain, but that's how it looks to me. With a box with a removable tray I'd expect to see the papers under the tray.
Hey, I'm not going to question it. I was just surprised, that's all, and with you saying what it might be I now want to find an example of one.
Two-tone waffle dial with rose gold furniture and steel case - not too shabby! Dial looks good to me. €1500 + fees starting bid not so much
I know - because I have the same box as in the OP but in black kroko: no papers behind - mahogany wood only (heavily lacquered) - this insert friction-fits in the case top.
The tray has 2 moveable cardboard flaps on the underside - so you can put them flat when you want to close the box with the watch inside. When you want to present the watch inside the box ( maybe in a dealer´s store window) you can move the flaps out to make the whole unit stand higher in the box and the watch could be presented in a more impressive way.
