Dear members,

Good late afternoon.
Sorry to take your time but I have a question regarding an explorer 14 270 from 99 ( not the swiss only dial).
According to the seller and the pictures, the watch had never been used. The original and only owner never took out nor the green plastic protection on the case back nor on the claps.
I already own one from 96 with the tritium dial but the fact that the watch was bought and then putted away until now attracts me. In your opinion do you think that it justifies the 7.500 euros asked by the seller (if I add couple of extra euros more I can get a new model from 2021) ?
Beat regards

Pictures would help! If truly unworn that is not a bad price. Does it have lug holes? Box or papers?

Dear sir,

Good evening.
I don't think it have lug holes ( the model is from 99 série A apparently). It comes with both original papers and box.
You will find enclosed few pictures.

7500 euro is a bit steep in my opinion, even for a like-new example. Is there a specific reason you need two of the same watch? If you really want to upgrade, I would just sell the 96 and buy a new one instead. These 14270s aren't particularly collectable.

Dear sir,

Good morning,

Thank you for your reply. I agree with you. The only reason why Iam 'looking' at this watch is because of the 'time capsule concept' . If I put aside that ' concept' there are no reasons to get this model. For the sane amount of money I can get something else.

Best regards

I’d want to see more and better pictures of it to judge condition if you’re paying a premium

Bonjour, I know nothing about Rolex, but if you’re paying a premium for a time-capsule, that means you’re never going to wear it— and therefore the only possible reason to buy it is as an investment.
A speculative one as you’re making the assumption its value will increase over time- and that this watch which others deem right now not particularly collectable, will increase in value over time.
Is this the best investment right now?

Personally I figure one of the appeals of owning a watch is to be able to wear it, with the comfort of knowing you can probably recoup your funds when you need to. If you can’t do either, well I really don’t get the point… but again people consider Rolex is as good as cash, so who am I to say.

Best regards

Dear sir,

Good afternoon.

Thank you for your reply. Actually if I pull the plugg is for wearing it. I don't look at it as an investment. It might sounds strange but it is the idea of creating memory with a watch that hasn't been used since it was bought many moons ago that attract me.

Best regards
