Input on two recent Seamaster purchases

Hi,

I am a new member and was hoping to get some feedback on my recent vintage Seamster purchases. A little bit about me, I collected mechanical watches 25+ years ago for a few years before moving to the west coast of Canada in my early thirties. I has an assortment of the usual suspects from back then, Gruen Curvexes, Omega Seamasters, Ernest Borel Mystery and various other affordable recognizable mechanical watches.

When I moved to Vancouver, I met a watchmaker whom I befriended and he worked on some of my watches. Over the years, through him and another friend I bought and sold a manual wind Rolex Submariner, an Explorer II, a Datejust and now my current watch is an Explorer which I enjoy. Of note, I sold all of my early collection for a song because I wore them less and less (wish I had held on to them!) . Recently, my interest of watches was piqued again I also felt it was time to engage in a hobby so I joined eBay to better educate myself and to gain some insights and a better understanding the "watch" market. I also joined this forum in early May and have enjoyed reading the posts and learning along the way.

I really like my current watch and it''s "Explorer dial" so when I jumped into the market and made two purchases of "Explorer/Military" style dials were part of my criteria. I am still waiting for both watches to arrive, one is coming from the UK and one coming from the US. Below are photos of the two new purchases - unfortunately I don't have a pic of the mechanical movement of the Seamaster Ref 165.002 as there wasn't one available. I welcome your input around originality of dial, hands, crown, overall condition and perhaps a general value. I understand that the photos may not allow for definitive evaluations/feedback. I'll share what I paid for them after I receive some input.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum @Realtime. I love that 165.003. Keep an eye out for a notice of the BC chapter of the NAWCC, whenever we are able to do that again 馃憥

Don't know much about the second, but first I coined the name Seamaster 300 companion model. Came in a manual or automatic version.

Bit of deterioration around the indexes, but nicer than some I've seen. Could have a 550 or 552 caliber

I had 3 back around 2004/5, but nothing since, so not sure what they would sell for today, but do a search on the reference number and should bring up some sold posts

Bad pic of mine

Thanks for the info Don.

You definitely had a very nice looking Seamaster "300 companion model" back in the day. I have done a little more research and gathered some more information on both Seamaster models. They both should provide an ROI if they were to sold at some point down the road. My plan is to have them serviced and then wear enjoy them.
