Thanks so much. My inbox has been flooded with offers but they’re all a bit on the low side compared to what I’ve been told on here so I’m going to hang fire and see what happens.

Yeah, beware of the sharks...

Thank you. Yeah I’ve had a few “Pfft! It’s not worth anywhere near that much” responses. Time will tell, I guess

This is such a lovely thread. After the nonsense of the Error41 (or whatever it was called) discussion, it's so good to see OF members being generously helpful, and a new member showing appreciation for that generosity.

Good luck with the sale - it's a super looking watch. Please don't accept offers to end the sale early. A watch like this will get lots of serious interests and it will find its right price, and you will never need to worry about whether you did the right thing for yourself. The only reason anyone would offer you a price to take it offline is because they think it will go for more if the auction runs its course.

I was apprehensive about joining a forum because I realise that as someone with a specific query I don’t technically bring a lot of value to the community.

But I’m hugely grateful to you guys for making me feel so welcome and being so forthcoming with your great advice, knowledge and expertise.

You have 5 plus days left to end the auction ." I'm not a watch guy..." might change. Your watch here will go up in value over time. Just wear it as intended and see, if your statement and mindset changes. Even if it's not important to you as a heirloom.... The short financial gain might be spent quickly and then a missed opportunity thinking, might kick in. Happened to many.... Good luck.

Thank you. I appreciate this. I’ll seriously think about it.

The photos in the listing could hold back the auction a bit. I would add a good high-resolution in-focus straight on photo in natural lighting with the hands not obscuring the printing. Many of the photos are out of focus. There's enough to catch a collector's interest, but some people will wonder if you're hiding something.

All the users sending OP lowball offers are like, “Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!”

You must have caught this crowd on a good week, most people leave either crying or cussing.
Glad you were able to do what you needed to do with this watch. Maybe you’ll find a watch you like one of these days and come back to show us.

Hmmm, maybe there are some lessons here.

1. Be transparent about your intentions.
2. Don't insult the people who are trying to help you.
3. [Bonus points] Express gratitude for free assistance.

Good save. Photography isn’t my strong point. I’ll do that asap

Very well said.
It seems the least one can do when arriving in a new place, but often it is not.
