Inherited 1937 Longines Cal. 12.68Z Ref. 1938 Vintage Watch

Hi Everyone,
I would like to share this beautiful vintage Longines that has been in my family. I managed to have it opened by a watchmaker to document it fully, and here are the details:
    • Movement: Longines Caliber 12.68Z. Serial number is 5,597,108, which seems to date it to late 1937 or early 1938. It is running well.
    • Case: Staybrite stainless steel case, Inner Caseback is stamped with Reference 1938.
    • Dial: It has an untouched military/explorer style dial with gorgeous tropical patina and original cathedral hands.
I am planning to sell this piece in the near future to a collector who appreciates it, but first, I would love to hear your expert opinions on its authenticity, exact history, and fair market value. Any insights would be highly appreciated!

Note that the watch could do with a service, even if it's currently running well - the regulator arm is pushed pretty far to the 'fast' side.

(However, if you're planning on selling it anyway, I wouldn't recommend that you have it serviced before sale)
