Hi, I’ve recently came across the FOIS at Brisbane airport and immediately fell in love with it so took it home, first luxury watch.

Anyway, I’m interested in getting a dress watch and have been searching on eBay. I came across a vintage Seamaster but I’m unsure about it’s model number. The seller has claimed that he doesnt have the tool to open the caseback but he’s had it for 10 years and had a service during that period and the watchmaker didn’t comment on the authenticity of the watch.

Hoping to get some info on the model ref/ authenticity (if at all possible) and whether dial looks repainted.

    Thanks

For that reference number, should it say "Seamaster 600"?

That’s what I was thinking, I came across that one but it didn’t have the 600.

Also it doesn’t have the cyclops.

Am I looking at a redial?

Looks like Geneve were in that styles with cyclops. But looking at the seamaster print, I am more and more noticing smudging. Maybe a redial?

I think I might have answered my own question upon doing a bit more research. It appears that the “am” connection in the Seamaster writing is slightly different than original. On original the “a” connects to “m” from the bottom part of the letter while this one starts from the top. See photo below, could anyone confirm?
