A friend has just purchased this, with zero knowledge of Omega watches and despite my raving of the intricate details to be mindful of when going at it alone (auctions)! Unfortunately my expertise is mostly low-end vintage watches. I am hopeful the wonderful OF members would kindly share any information they might know about this particular specimen. Anything you could share would be greatly appreciated.
Looks like a nice vintage watch. However you should get it to a watch repairer quickly as the movement is loose in the case. Notice the gap on the 9:00 side between reflector ring and dial. Might also explain the rub marks in the case back as well.
That looks very clean inside and out, especially given its age. As long as he's happy with the size (32.5mm apparently), I don't see any issues.
All the information is there. Case reference number = Omega Seamaster introduced in 1949. Caliber 351 introduced in 1949. Serial number dates the movement to approx 1950/1951. Gold capped bezel and lugs on stainless steel case. It's a nice watch, but as @janice&fred noted, it needs the attention of a watchmaker. Bumper movements apply much more shock to the movement than full rotors and this one has loose case tabs, I suspect caused by the bumps or bad repair work in the past..
