Guy locally is selling this, I'm a Rolex guy. What do we have here and whats it worth? Thanks for any help
Welcome - Glad a Speedy catches the eye of a Rolex Guy We could do it all for you, OR if you do some home work, and tell us what you think, and present photos the right way up then the Speedmaster Dinosaurs will bend over backwards to help. Right now my neck is cricked trying to look at that photo. Seriously, the internet has no way of conveying subtleties, and right now as a new poster you have walked into the pub and yelled at everyone to tell you how much something is worth so you can go and make a profit on it. Something that you yourself have not bothered to research. I am sure that is not your intention, so suggest a little look at www.speedmaster101.com and tell us what you think, even tell us why you need the value, is there an asking price or do you have to offer. (There is also one for sale on the forum that might help you arrive at a figure.)
Washed dial EW with incorrect crown, tatty DON, heavily polished case, possibly with non-recent hand relume. Hope this helps.
after the above comment im assuming he wants way too much. He was wanting 9500...I'm buying a Rolex from him and he offered this one as well as he is downsizing his collection. Dont have much time to investigate it as he is sending me the rolex Tuesday,
can you get him to send you some movement photos? So far case and dial are both 'meh', and DON bezel is middle of the road. So 3 out of the four major parts value-wise.
As people have noted key aspects are not even near top condition. Inner caseback and serial numbers are needed to confirm originality and correctness of some parts. Then value can be sorted. Edited
Yeah I noticed that right after I hit post. I thought I saw crown guards due to lack of photo in that area then noticed no professional and edited my post.
Has T's and I think a black flange so its later than that. I was actually thinking 003-64 but the previous polish may obscure whether there is a lug bevel or not and it could in fact be a -65.
Speaking of the tension ring, it seems that the crystal may be incorrect. I haven't seen any black Speedmaster tension ring with a glossy finish, and since we can't see if the crystal has an Omega logo, I'm willing to bet that the watch does not have a genuine Omega crystal.
