Don't know if it's a "proper" moonwatch, but it's the coolest moonphase made.

It's a moonwatch! I bought my first Speedmaster with Moonphase a week ago. I can't take my eyes off it. I got the steel bracelet. Yours looks great with leather.

    Congratulations on a beautiful watch!

Yes, I can see the footprint. I'm super myopic so when I take off my glasses my focal length is about 2 inches. Maybe less. That means I can hold things very close to my eyes and see those things as if they are highly magnified. (It's a gift. What can I say? ) It's pretty hard to see under normal circumstances. My wife and kids can't see it.

In the photo above, you can't see it because it has rotated out of view.

When I first got the watch I thought the footprint would be more noticeable, and I even wondered at first glance if perhaps my model didn't have it. But then I took off my glasses and saw it.

    How about you?

I guess it's supposed to be Neil Armstrong's footprint, since his was the first print on the moon. Or perhaps it's just supposed to represent the footprints of all twelve men who have walked on the moon.
