This just in - a 1953 LeCoultre Powermatic: I forgot how hard it is to shoot black dials under crystals with no AR coating. Anyway, it's the original black dial and it's in pretty good shape. This was the first automatic watch with a power reserve when it was released in the late 40's. And of course, it's a 14ct case because I love gold! Black dialed vintage watches are my weakness, especially when they're over bumpers.
Mmmm hmmmm. Flip to you I assume. It might be a few decades before this one goes on the block. Part of the reason I found new homes for half my Omegas, half my IWC's, and a couple Longines was to go deeper into JLC / LC and maybe AP / VC. I'll always have a handful or more of Omegas, but if I target one it's gonna be a killer model like a Centenary reference 2500, Seamaster 321, or better. I think I'm good with stainless models counting the Genève 562, Seamaster 751, and Chronostop 865 as keepers.
Interestingly that style looks like it wears more like a C-Case than a regular watch with its crap style lugs. Dial looks damn clean for something that age too
In excellent shape, which is what makes this an outstanding buy. So many LeCoultres are gold plated/gold filled, with all sorts of dial substitution, or simply run down, damaged dials. This is superb, and in an interesting case, and in gold. I can see why it makes your keeper roster.
