Hi all,
Got this from my grandfather a few months ago, been languishing with my watchmaker, but finally got it back. I've paired it with an Omega BoR bracelet. Does anyone know anything about these watches? Period? anything? My grandfather died in the mid 1970s, so it has to date from before that, but that is all I know.

It's a 60's watch. Some Tissots had rebadged Omega calibers inside.

That dial might be a good candidate for a dip in a tarnex-ish cleaning solution.

I looked at the caliber and looked nothing like an Omega. I will try and take a photo today. What is tarnex-ish?

I'm not sure an irreplaceable family heirloom is the best candidate for experimental dial cleaning. Is it just me, or is this vintage logo a lot classier than the current one?

Yes, that logo looks great! These were off-shoots of the Tissot PR516 line of watches for "active" people. There are a series of ads that feature these on the wrist of people boating, driving, skiing, yachting, beach buggying (hope that's a word...). The Seastars were larger pieces, likely meant to be safe for water use (not sure if for diving...). Daniel, yours looks like a dressier version, with a nice champagne dial...I wouldn't try dipping this one-just get it serviced and it should run for another 40 years, a great piece to honour your grandfather.
I just bought a PR516 with Seastar on the midnight blue (beautiful in the right light) dial, but definitely more of a diver style with bi-directional bezel...
