Big thanks to George (@Kringkily) and ΩF for all the advice and guidance. This is my first Speedmaster AND my first Omega watch. After searching and researching both Superluminova v. Tritium dials and Hesalite v. Sapphire crystals and cal. 861 v. cal. 1861 movements, I narrowed my search (of roughly 2.5 months) to a Tritium/Hesalite/861 Speedy. I have to say, the patina is what sold me. I love the look! If you want to buy a Speedy, don't be afraid to get specific with your search. It really made the wait worthwhile. Thanks to you all, I was able to locate a pristine Speedmaster Professional 3590.50 circa 1993 from @Kringkily here --> https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-professional-3590-50.27217/ Shoutout to Chipotle for providing a great light-brown napkin. It provided the perfect texture and contrast to showcase the yellowing patina (Note: I like watches and I am not affiliated with Chipotle in any way except that they feed me delicious burrito bowls on the reg) Pics from a phone (LG G3)
Thanks! The bracelet was not on my radar screen until after figuring out which watch I wanted to purchase. I like the look of the 1479 bracelet over the newer version (I don't know the ref #) because the links are uniform in polish/color (i.e., no shiny middle railroad track in the center). I also prefer the clasp on the 1479 because of the Omega logo and Speedmaster in the center. Very excited! Also, it also feels good knowing many on ΩF sing praise over the 1479
Congratulations! It looks awesome. I was in the same situation as you and and also bought one from @Kringkily. He's the best! Enjoy it and welcome to the club
Congrats! I think @Kringkily is responsible for a lot of "first" Speedmaster. I bought a 3592 from him too as a first Speedy. Really nice watch!
Thanks everyone! This watch is UH-MAAAAY-ZING I look at the dial (and bezel) multiple times a day... in fact, sometimes I look at the dial and forget to check the time, which means I have to check the watch again to actually use it for its intended purpose, haha!
