Just three or four weeks ago I posted on a thread titled “what’s on your watch buy wishlist”. Top three list was an IWC Ocean Bund, a cal. 321 speedy, and an early (narrow-bezel) SM300. Given current prices I wrote that it would be “highly unlikely on my budget but you never know whats just one click away”.

Well four weeks and one click later... :):):)

That's a very nice buy! Congrats! I am sure a certain @mr_yossarian shares this reference :)

Well done! I love the straight lug case.

Where did you find this one?

eBay in the US. One owner watch too with a nice backstory which I’ll hopefully be able to confirm with an extract. Seller mentioned it was worn daily through to around 1970 then put in a drawer after a service (only with a crystal change). Comes on its original 7912 with no.6s.

So happy... only not sure how nervous I’ll be about the insert as there looks to be some cracking.

I've always loved this design, much more so than the later Mil-spec 300. This just seems much more in keeping with Omega's styling than the later one, and the 120 I find equally Omega.

Congrats on getting one of my grails...maybe I'll find one in one month and one click.

I’ve always preferred the look of these over the 165.024, I think mainly due to the narrow bezel rather than the straight lugs. Given the choice of any SM300 I suppose I’d have gone for an early version (CK2913), but you can’t control what’s going to pop up when on eBay !

I had three grails on the wishlist for 2019, so I think one every 4 months should be fine. So now I’ve got to land either an IWC bund or a cal. 321 speedy before the end of August :D

The case is also slimmer on the wrist.

    Its cousin says hello.

Wow.. that faded bezel is so subtle. Congrats on such a great catch. And seriously aren't you having enough #6 end links? Ridge or no ridge? ;)

It’s interesting that your minute hand and mine both seem to have darkened lume at the root. I wonder if that’s something thats been observed before or just a coincidence ?

Hehe... I’m guessing they’ll be ridged but can’t check yet as it’s being babysitted by a buddy in the US (seller wouldn’t send internationally).

Just ordered an extract too :coffee:

It's quite a nice thing to wear, gets a lot of wrist time next to the other Speedsomething :)

IMHO, the combination of the thin bezel, straight lug, candle-stick hands and this type of dial with square lume plots makes the overall look of the watch so subtly appealing.
