Whoa, didn't realize the bezel was fully lumed. Very cool!

The orange ceramic isn't as bright and "LOOK AT ME!" as the aluminum orange bezel was. Pretty pale in comparison, actually, but looks good in its own unique way. The white dial seems girly on the wrist for some reason. A black matte dial would have made this watch a knockout.

Nice watch! You are correct in using the past tense when describing the aluminum bezel, both because it’s no longer available and because it fades from “look at me!” to a very agreeable & mellow shade.

Yours actually looks a little faded and subdued. It has patina'd to a bronze-orange. Here's photos of my 8500 orange when I had it.... the bezel definitely popped:

Love this colour way, I’ve got the standard black version and I’d probably swap if I had the chance. Reckon a black bezel with that white face would be outstanding as well. Congrats on the awesome piece mate.

I do like this orange bezel PO, I am unsure if I could carry off the white dial version but the older 8500 black dial is just stunning.

Congratulations on the 8900, it looks awesome on you.

It’s actually very faded when compared to a new or a non-faded older one. “Bronze-orange” is a good description, and it’s also a bit silvery in certain lighting. Hard-earned patina! I always forget how bright it used to be until I see photos on this forum. I like it a lot better now, but admit to having buyer’s remorse when I bought it in 2010. I am not a flashy guy, and regretted not getting the black bezel for more everyday versatility. It was my only really good watch at the time.

I tried to get Omega to change the bezel on two occasions when it went in for service, but they flatly refused. The serial number says orange, and that’s that! Same thing with Gibson Guitars. When I wanted a black pick guard for my J45, they asked me for my serial number. And then they wouldn’t sell me one. Basically, “your guitar was built with, and is intended to have, a tortoise pick guard- sorry dude!“ I could have gone aftermarket but, like the watch, I kept it true.

Anyway, I clamped that orange Planet Ocean on my wrist and wore it 24/7 from April 2010 until March 2019 when I bought my Speedmaster.

Me neither. That is a really nice feature. Hope Omega starts doing it on more of their dive watches.

I removed two links from the 6 o'clock side yesterday and it fit perfectly. Today, two of the links on the 12 o'clock side felt like they were jamming up. So I took apart all the links, cleaned everything with an ultrasonic cleaner, and reassembled correctly. Looks like whoever put the bracelet together at the factory was having a bad day as the links that were locking up had Loctite on the pins and at least 3 screws had no Loctite at all.

Wth? That couldn't have been done at the factory... Right?

idk, I bought it brand new with all stickers and I looked over it closely with a loupe before sizing and there were no signs of previous sizing/wearing...
