I am excited to finally be getting a Sea master. A little nervous but excited as its from a private seller on Chrono, but seems legit. Original owner, box and papers and a service in 2019.

Wondering about 2 things after I get it - I would love to get it checked for authenticity and just the seals for watertightness as I plan to use it as a water watch....Is there a service for Omegas that is not a full service? I know I can call them but I am just curious.

Can't help with the authenticity portion but you can take it to a local watch shop and have them pressure test it.

Looks legit based on this one picture—but it is a commonly faked model, and if you have any doubts, they’re unlikely to just go away, at least in my experience.

Did it come with all the original bracelet links? If so it should weigh just around 171 grams. Verifying that is one way to confirm authenticity (to some extent), as a fake would likely not be exactly right on that point.

But that only works if you have all the links. And even so, it’s not going to be as satisfyingly conclusive as having a look at the movement.

If you have a competent watchmaker who can open it up, take some pics of the movement (which you can post here), and then reseal and pressure-test the watch, that should give you peace of mind.

Even better—and what I’ve done before when buying preowned—is to actually send the watch in for an official Omega service. You can’t get better authentication than that, plus it’ll be ready for years of use, will have a fresh 2 year OEM warranty, and will be refinished to like-new condition. The downsides: expensive, and it can take a couple months before it’s back on your wrist.

The watch is probably not yet due for a complete service if it had one four years ago, but there’s certainly no harm in getting one. Especially if that service wasn’t an official one from Omega—?

To address your specific question re: Omega just doing an authenticity-check: this is not a service they provide, though if you take it to an AD that has an in-house watchmaker who’s not overworked and who is in a good mood, they may be willing to take a look for you. (I’ve had this done before, but it came with a scolding: “we’ll do it, but this isn’t generally a thing we do.”)

I wouldn’t take the word of a sales associate. No dis to anyone, but I often find that I know more about their products than they do. (Salespeople at OBs seem more knowledgeable.)

Thanks...it hasn't arrived yet...its a funky weekend with Christmas in the mix.
I believe according to the pictures, it has all the links as there a couple in a bag, as well it appears to have the omega service receipt from Manhattan and a picture of 2 gaskets in a bag, and the warranty cards......seems like a legit presentation, one owner watch, with a service. The seller is not very friendly or verbose in his messages which on one hand is worrisome but it actually makes more sense then if he were overly solicitous.
I AGONIZED an to some extent still am over this one or a newer 108ish version, which seems to be superior but maybe too big for me?

Hoping to make this a water watch for summer and really use it - and this reference seems to pop up over an over. Opinions are just those ...opinions, and it funny, so many you tube videos, some guys like what other guys hate....

Im hoping its modern enough, not too vintage and too light but still nice looking and watertight functional.....welcome to my OCD world hahaha

You’ll probably love it—a really wearable size, not too thick. And aluminum is better than ceramic for this one. IMO.
