After reviewing several forum threads, Desmond's blogs and articles, accidentally buying a frankenfake, and taking a leap of faith, I bought my first vintage watch, which had to be an Omega constellation due to my love for astronomy, mechanical engineering, and timeless design. All stainless 168.005 Constellation with a dome dial and a 561 movement. Dial appears to be original and case unpolished. The photos on the auction were not very good, but I think I lucked out. Definitely loving it! And, yes that is a baby (I don't have a dog to include in the pics!) :-D
Oooo, original yellow gasket! Looks good to me. Love the line about settling for picturing your baby in the one shot because you don't have a dog.
Watch looks really good. Original poster: are you the one scratching the jebus out of the lugs with bracelet / strap changes or did it come like that? Get one of these:
Now that is nice! I'm always thrilled when I see a completely unpolished watch! Very well done, and wear in good health, but don't let it steal to much attention away from that precious one on the floor!
Haha fortunately no! It came on this horrible generic bracelet with the spring-loaded ends to fit different sizes. I've got a spring bar tool I used to remove it the day it arrived. What you see in the headshot is how it came. Thanks for the tip!
Very True! And that is a very nice one Ainterian, a big congrats to you. I am always amazed by how they can cramped all the little details into this little watch but yet still feel very balanced and subtle. Something a lot (way too many) of the modern watch design just cannot replicate.
Thank you! Most modern watches are all entirely too big and flashy, in my opinion. But hey, that's the fashion at the moment. I'm sure folks criticized the design of these back then as well.
