By way of fellow member Kringkily I was able acquire a grail of mine, the Speedmaster Gemini IV 40'th Anniversary. Justified as an engagement present to myself, I couldn't be happier with it or the buying experience . Replacement bezel is also on the way via Al/archer. The photo's are Kringkily's. It joins my small collection of unorthodox Speedmasters.
That Gemini is beautiful. Everytime I see one I put it on 'my list' then a few minutes later I remember what a disaster I am with manual wind watches...
The standard Speedmaster is not so bad, the moonphase on the other hand... is a pain to set correctly, when it is not in constant use.
Absolutely. Don't foresee it going anywhere in the near future. Or the distant future for that matter. Wore it a LOT the first 3 months. The summer heat makes my wrist swell and the bracelet it too tight. Working on getting a nice strap for it.
I was wondering why it was not making any rounds recently in the WRUW thread. It really is a shame the hidden clasps lack the micro adjustments. I had the same problem with my AT until I picked up a deployment strap and clasp.
The Gemini IV is still my favourite LE, I passed up on a chance to buy one for $4000 USD BNIB at an AD a few years ago and I've regretted it since
Mate I'm rebuilding the watch fund after camera equipment and a new Retina Macbook Pro, and I have some other items on the list but at some point in the future I'll let you know
