Today I´m so excited to introduce my first new watch, and my first modern Omega; the Speedmaster First Omega in Space.

It is an special present that my wife, my daughter and I did to myself. This is my reward to quit smoking after 22 years.
So I´m happy for both things; my new healthy life with my two girls, and my new watch. :)

As many on here, I began on this hobbie being a small size vintage watch lover, thinking that more than to 38-40mm was too big for my wrist, but last few months I´ve been paying more attention than before on the Speedmaster line. I like most references, specially the pre-moons, but finding a nice one will be a challenge for next year; I hope...

This purchase hasn´t been influenced under the historical guideline that I tried to follow with my other watches. It was just intended to be something new that I really like, to walk with me the next few years.

I know this is not a moonwatch, has no hesalite, and the difference on the register hands, among other things; but having all these things in mind, I tried it on during my visit to the boutique and felt in love with it. I really like the size, how it seats on my wrist, and these beautiful alpha hands when they are view under the correct light.

No more words, let´s see some pictures, as without them, I know you don´t believe anything...:D

I wouldn't worry about it beind a moonwatch or not - it's cooler than a regular Speedmaster because of the hands and the lack of Professional on the dial.

Beautiful watch. Congrats on both achievements!

Does anyone know the specific band on this watch? I'd love to put my vintage Speedy on one just like this - what a stunning look!!

I also like how it looks this brown color with the white stitching, but once on your wrist it does´t seem to have the expected quality for such a watch, and most people want to replace it.

If you still want it; it is 19mm on the lugs and 16mm on the buckle, and I think you can buy it directly from Omega or maybe used from any FOIS owner.

I followed Adam suggestion and ordered a 19mm black Hadley Roma MS891, and maybe later I will try the same band but in 20mm brown, as they don´t produce a brown one in 19mm. Another option I saw from Steve is the 20mm gold brown Hirsch Medici.

Wow, sure didn't see that coming :D

Seriously , any Moonwatch lover can wear this with pride. I has the right shaped case, the right registers, the right heritage movement. What's not to love.

Awesome looking strap. Did you cut the keeper off the strap?
