There is little that will cause a watch collector's heart to miss a beat more that seeing this: However, my Japanese seller was on the ball. This watch was sent in a generic hard case and surrounded by yards of bubble wrap. All was well inside the box. Here is what I found inside: It's the same model featured in this thread. https://omegaforums.net/threads/recommended-iwc-automatic-on-ebay.26819/#post-297973 I almost pulled the trigger last year, but I bought this for about half the price. This one cleaned up very nicely. The Ref. 1828 has a matte finish on both sides. It looks polished, but that's the factory finish. More pictures to come. Enjoy, gatorcpa
Very nice, Evan! I had the same happen with an Omega coming out of France. The box had a dent like that and the inner packaging was the worst I've ever seen...just the watch between two pieces of open cardboard! Luckily it was ok.
Very, very nice. Congrats! Some day, I WILL have an IWC, also. It's destiny. Why? How many watch companies were started by a dude named Jones?
Darn postal service.... Broke the package, stole your cal.321 and left you some lousy IWC. Hope it was insured!
Luckier than me. I had won an auction on ebay for a Vintage Connie with rose gold furniture. It had come all the way from Greece, stayed several weeks at US customs, only to be "lost" between the post office and my house (which is less than a block away)... The seller was kind enough to reimbursed me without hassle.
Reminds me of the parcel I had 'delivered' it was dropped over my fence and smashed! I digress... Lovely watch!
Go FedEx, DHL, TNT etc. Worth the extra money spend imo. And a lot faster then snail mail. Just my 2c worth.
I have a pair of speakers shipping to nyc...in the hands of FedEx now... The fed ex guy says if they put a fragile label on a package they go out of their way to be extra rough ...
Maybe worth the extra for shipping, but I dred to think of the customs duty plus markup that would have been (likely incorrectly) charged by FedEx. BTW, the full cost of the watch, including the box and postage was declared, down to the last yen. USPS chose not to charge for it. gatorcpa
If anyone is interested in a similar watch to mine, there's a very nice example of an IWC Ref. 1828 up on eBay right now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/311750640811Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network This reference used both the date and non-date movement in exactly the same case. gatorcpa
Excellent dial. I'm sure the case was excellent too, before they decided to take out the dremel to ruin it
No. This reference has soft edges from the factory with brushed matte surfaces. Looks good to me. gatorcpa
