The year started for me with no military watches in my collection. And because of OF knowledge base generated over the years and some highly educated watch collectors members of the military watches, I found some amazing pieces this year. I am ending this year with a Grail that comes from a highly respected OF member.

I hope all of my watch collector friends and this great community have a great holiday and an amazing happy new year.

Thanks all for sharing your knowledge with me and this community.

    Very nice looking.

Does it have Swedish Air Force origin - with the corresponding case back? If so - to my knowledge, it ought to have another kind of bezel.

This is the SAAF version, not the SWAF. Lemania Cal 1872. And this one is from 1975 according to the Issued number in the back.

    Thanks

Insanely tasty watch. The strap compliments the watch so well to my eye.

    Congratulations on your Grail.

Congrats on your purchase! The comments above on the differences between a SAAF and SWAF ('Viggen') Lemania 1872 made me check out the differences between the two. Disregarding the slight differences between the dials, it's fascinating how much difference a bezel makes!

Why though does yours not have a broad arrow on the dial? Did South-Africa leave the commonwealth somewhere in between?

Is that SAAF dial correct (left pic) or did it come from another reference? [See above for correct dial configurations.] I know that these (and other) issued watches were bastardized over time with replacement parts as needed (I have another SAAF that is in such a condition and I have not been able to corral correct parts).

The SAAF on the left is the first batch where the fonts are smaller and have an arrow. Mine is the second batch above posted which is same as SwAF on the right with different Bezel.
