Thanks to the amazing @paddymoran I am officially the owner of an absolutely LOVELY Seamaster De Ville! Paddy was so, so helpful and patient — and I can't stop staring at the thing!

Do I know how to set the date? Nope. Do I know where to take it in to get serviced? Maybe! Either way, excited to be an Omega owner!

Thanks Pirooz for the kind words. Wishing you every happiness with your first Omega - the first of many!!!! From memory I’m pretty sure this has a quick set date function so the date changes incrementally each time you pull out and back in the crown. Nice picture!!

Question for folks in the states — what is a rough price and timeline I should expect when shopping around for someone to service this beauty? For the sake of this conversation, let's assume I won't need any new parts from Omega.

It could be anywhere from $200-$600 and two weeks to six months depending on who does the work.

I took the watch to a place in San Francisco I actually discovered by searching omegaforums. Here's what they're saying:
Condition: dried movement lubrication, not working properly.
Worn crown, crystal, strap.
Need : Clean movement, lubricate, adjust, regulate : $750.00
Suggest additional : new crystal, new crown replacement : $290.00
(For moisture protection)
7-10 days turnaround
One year labor warranty

Note: I don't plan on doing any of the additional items.

Seems quite expensive, and I think significantly more than Omega would charge for a factory service IIRC. Not that I am recommending sending it to them. Just a point of comparison.

That seems expensive. I sent a DeVille to STS in the uk recently knowing it needed parts so would be difficult going to an independent.

total cost for full service, crystal, crown and new hand set was around £600 GBP
