Hello, I am Minas from Greece. First of all I want to thank the administrators of the forum that accepted me. To the subject now: as I was searching my fathers stuff ( died in1999), I found this omega. Could you please tell me if you can any details such as model year etc. thank you in advance. The strap is from another watch and I put it just to see how it fits on me. As shown by the stamp in the caseback, it's an Omega Model 2503 sold by House Türler, a prestige jeweller in Zurich.

The movement is a Caliber 265 which was introduced in 1950 and the serial number dates the watch to approximately 1951.

Based on the fingerprints everywhere, and the position of the regulator I'd recommend that you get it serviced/cleaned before wearing or else it will only be further damages.

Note that my assessment is based on the quality of the supplied photographs.

Better pics would confirm my guesses.

Another question about the dial. It has a rusty coloring, can it be cleaned or it will get damaged.

The model is the ref on the caseback ref 2503-8. The movement puts it around 57-58. the Turler subtitle was the name of the jeweller it was resold/comissioned from. Sometimes you also see Tiffany . There is a small debate as to whether this adds any value. I don't really think so. It's in a nice steel case which hasn't been polished (very good news). bit of polywatch will help with the scratches...

There isn't any rust on the dial. Just the patina of age. It looks great..don't touch it. polish the crystal will polywatch , get it service and wear it well!

That's not rust. It's more likely to be a combination of dirt and yellowing caused by ageing of the varnish on the dial. The dirt can be brushed off (very gently!), but the yellow varnish would have to be removed. That will almost certainly damage the printing (logo, minute markers) and in even if successfull will reduce the value of the watch. So it's not recommended.

Post pictures and queries in the relevant subforums. You will get more and better information if photos include the movement and caseback from the get go and are brightly lit - so it's best to wait for daylight.
