I really like the patina, here. I do wonder about 9K gold; haven't been around much, but I suppose it's just half as much as 18K? Anything to worry about here? http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs...matic-1966-cal-565-a-1106890.html#post8865730 Thanks, brothers and sisters! Doug
Gosh, this one is interesting, too. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs...size-cal-30-t2-sc-pc-1118082.html#post8844770 Might this seller's stash be too good to be true?!? I'm really liking this one...
It's not patina, it's smallpox. The dial wasn't prepared properly before painting and over time minor spots of corrosion have caused the blisters in the paint. I wouldn't touch it unless I had a replacement dial in my sock drawer.
Interesting in the sense that it's 500 Euro worth of gouged and water damaged dial, wrong hands, a click that's composed primarily of ferric oxide and other movement signs of water damage. Move along now, nothing to see here.
But surely this one passes the test... I like this one the best! (quick, duck now! ) http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs...65-denisteel-13322-a-1107026.html#post8865658
Yes, that one looks like more like a small but manageable outbreak of acne on a teenager. Certainly liveable patina and does not warrant the extremes of refinishing. Movement is super clean and shows no signs I can see of being attacked by a butcher, or any other side-door tradesman for that matter. Case is English and model number doesn't appear in the Omega database, but that's normal for British cased models. 12 million serial dates it to the early fifties.
