First off I have to say this forum is really bad for the addiction!

After digging into vintage speedmasters for weeks, I've now started reading up info on vintage constellations. As such, I was watching this auction, saw that no one made a bid and impulse took over.. How did I do? [emoji27] [emoji29]

Not good, in my opinion, i'm afraid to say. The dial is refininshed, the star is off centre, heaven only knows whats gone wrong with the movement

    Return immediately is my advice

Impulse buying is not an ally to building a good watch collection

    Cheers, paul

I'm not convinced the star is off centre, could well just be dirt that makes it look like that. Better photos once it's received would be helpful.

I tend to agree, the case has been heavily polished, the medallion has melted and the dial has been badly re-painted.

    (my opinion)

Impulse is definitely counter productive sometimes!

Could you elaborate on the dial issue? Is the font incorrect for this model? The star does look misaligned a little in the full res photo (eBay app photo was blurry when zoomed).

Should I bring up the issue and have the seller cancel the purchase or return it once I get some better pictures in person?

In my opinion the dial is original.

I have noticed that if no one is bidding there is usually a reason why.

Even if it is centered, it sure is not shaped right.

Hmm if you rotate the star to the left it looks better. It seems it was reglued in the wrong position

Yup, but there is so much dirt on the dial I was just wondering if dirt contamination could account for the misshapen, off center appearance.

Given the issues with the dial..... the case is far too polished for my liking and it has an incorrect crown for this model, and I think that movement has seen moisture..... patience is a virtue...

Ended up messaging the seller with my concerns and requested a cancelation, which they promptly obliged.

Lesson learned! Thanks everyone for your input.

Looks good to me. Only issue I see is the crown, and some Constellations did have the clover crowns. Case back is a little bit worn, but that would be normal for a nearly 60 year old watch.

I believe that the original 10-sided version is still avaliable if you want one.

The second and minute hands look too long for me here.
