I think so. Is it over a certain amount, like $500 or $1000?

AFAIK we have to pay 10% GST on items over $1000(which includes the postage, insurance, etc.).

Over $1000 dollars requires a full import deceleration. This would be done by the freight carrier if goods are declared above this amount.

PM me if you need more info.

If the total value (ie price and shipping) is inder $1000, you are fine. Above that, gst plus processing fees, etc.

Very Nice  , in my country item above 50 USD, we have to pay 27,5% for the VAT and import duties.

Our country has absurd and antiquated tax and custom rule. the way they calculated it, the total is closer to 40%.

That's awful. I thought we had it bad with 20% VAT on anything over £45.

Is it USD 1000 or AUD 1000? Silly question which should not be asked 4 months ago, but relevant now.

I'd assume $1000 AUD but it includes shipping costs

Here too in the Netherlands the no tax limit is about Euro 30, after that tax has to be paid on the goods and tax also has to be paid on the postal costs
I recently sold a watch to a guy in Australia who decided he didn't like it , he returned it and I got lumbered with tax on my own watch-I had to fill in loads of forms to try to claim it back and I'm still waiting to hear from the tax Gestapo, it can take 12 weeks for them to make a decision as to whether or not I'll get my money back::jumpy::

I got specific advise from our tax office on this issue when I posted my watches to Steve in the USA for serviceIt confirmed I wouldn't have to pay tax on my own watch when it was being returned.
