    Hi all,

I was wondering if someone would know when did import codes start to appear on UG bridges?
I saw import codes on caliber used in the 60's but not sure for ones used earlier...
    Thank you :)

Started with Smoot-Hawley Act of 1930, I think. Some parts of the increased customs duties on watches came later.

A lot of these tariffs were repealed after 1933, but not on watch parts. The codes were used so that customs officials knew which US company to bill if the movements were imported without cases, which was very common at the time.

    Hope this helps,
