Great find, thank you! Probably just as hard to find as buying a real one 😆

Ps: kind of odd the print date is 2004, while most were sold in 2003.

In the Japanese publishing industry, there are some customs that may be confusing for people who do not live in Japan. One example is the way monthly magazines are dated. The issue number printed on the cover does not match the actual release month, but is instead set one month (or sometimes even more) ahead. For instance, right now it is August 2025, but the magazines on bookstore shelves are labeled as the September 2025 issue. When September 2025 comes, the October 2025 issue will already be available. This practice also applies when the year changes: for example, a magazine released in December 2025 may already be labeled as the January 2026 issue. In other words, only the “month and year” shown on the cover are shifted forward, while the actual release date is earlier.

With that in mind, if we take the example of a magazine with a back-cover advertisement, a February 2004 issue would have been available in bookstores in January 2004. On the other hand, for a magazine with a double-page spread advertisement, the issue is dated as “January 2004,” which means it was most likely available in December 2003.

Normally, advertisers are expected to prepare months in advance to place ads in magazines, so preparations for those ads were probably made in 2003. However, this is just my assumption—perhaps the wristwatch did not sell as well as expected, and the company decided to place the advertisement only after sales had already started.

Thank you for explaining! I guess that makes sense, as most were sold in the fourth quarter of 2003 (according to my small record) and sales maybe needed a little push in the first quarter of 2004.

Since only a few people on this forum speak Japanese, I’ve taken the liberty to translate your post into English using Google Translator.

From the Swiss luxury watch brand "Omega",

The Mitsukoshi limited model has arrived.

On July 20, 1969, at 8:17 p.m. GMT, millions of people around the world were watching the first feat of mankind on television. Neil Armstrong, the captain of Apollo 11, who landed on the moon, became a hero, and the "Omega Speedmaster", who clocked the moon's time for the first time with him, also became a legendary clock. Even today, NASA astronauts carry out space missions with this watch on their arms.

The "Speedmaster Professional" introduced this time is a very valuable model with a limited number of 300 bottles made exclusively for Omega Mitsukoshi. The function that the astronauts trust remains the same, and the dial that complements the bold form is a combination of black and silver-white design, which exudes a simple but overwhelming presence. Why don't you take it in your hand and think about the time of space and the romance of astronauts?

Wow, what an interesting piece of history you got there! I'd agree that it was hella cheap to get a Speedy back then compared to now.
