Hi, I'm Tom. I'm new here.

The 50's bumper automatic was my grandfather's, passed down to my dad, and now to me. The pie-pan constellation and my transitional Speedmaster are the other watches that I included.

Hello and welcome. Always great to be able to have nice family pieces. Are the pie pan and Speedy also family pieces? Are you aware the pie pan dial has been repainted at some point in its history?

The Speedmaster is really nice. I am hoping to acquire a 321 soon as well.

No, only the little bumper came through the family. (not my uncle's...) My dad was telling me about the time that my granddad threw away the gold bracelet because it was worn out... :(

No, I didn't know/consider that the pie pan may have been "refreshed" in the past. What part specifically? I took pics with the iphone, so they may not be of the best quality. I used to wear it to work, but it has spent at least 5 years in the safety deposit box.

Firstly, I linked to the wrong part of Desmond's blog. Look here: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?0gkvwpzw4on3vbx
So, there are a few tells re the redial. First, look at the cross hairs of the OP's dial:
    crosshair.PNG
see how the crosshairs stop at the text. On correct dials, the crosshairs should be continuous through the text:

Second, have a look at the minute markers. They should be even, equal, standard. On the OP's, they are not. This is always a tell that the dial has been hand repainted
    uneven minute hashes.PNG

Third, where the "swiss made" text is. It should be very low, sometimes almost invisible. However, it is very hard for that to be replicated by hand. Look at the OP's:

    swiss made.PNG

    And original dials:
    swiss made 4.PNG swiss made2.PNG swiss made3.PNG

Finally, and most importantly, the font of "constellation". Now, this does differ from model to model, so you need to compare it to the correct model. However, the font in the OP is wrong in all cases:
    font.PNG
but this is the sort of font I would expect to see:
    correct font.PNG
    Notice:
    - the correct font has serifs
    - the 'n' is folded under
    - the OP's 'l' looks like they are in italics
    - etc.
