It is listed as having original parts but (and forgive me if I'm wrong) the chronograph hand doesn't seem correct for this watch. Anybody care to help a newbie out and spot anything horribly wrong with it? Also, how much does a correct steel band for this watch cost?

From what I learn from this forum , I may help more or less .
S/N cannot be seen , so this should not be known whether it is correct for year 1969 or not.
Yes , chrono hand is not original.
Bezel is not Dot Over Nine ( DON ) , so probably be replaced years .

    220 bezel!

There seems to be some lume lost, and the rest has turned unattractive dark. Movement spacer ring looks like carbonized, movement has some rusted parts. Case has been polished with soft lugs.

New bracelet 1171 with 633 end links is around $350, vintage 1039/516 from $500 to $1000 depending on your luck.

    Good luck.

I take it the "!" instead of "..." means that's good?

Yes, that's a good "mistake" that's been the rage for some lately.

    Oh I see it now!

So that would be correct for a 69? I like it because to my untrained eye the case doesn't look polished and most everything but that hand (and band) look original.

The bezel is correct for the 69 model, but the movement has to be correct too. It probably is, but you still need the serial number to verify.

I added to my comment above to say the case has been polished. The signs for that are the soft edges on top of the 4 lugs. They're supposedly to look veey sharp in original condition. But in the end, it all depends on how you like the watch considering all the issues, and how much you want to spend on it after sorting out everything.

So the serial number should be between 28 and 31 million for 1969, and the movement obviously 861? How much of a bummer would it be if the crystal is not signed?

How much does the correct chrono hand goes for? Does the dial looks legit? Call me crazy but I don't mind the darkened lumen, I think it adds character.

I can confirm the price of a 1171/633 NOS for around 380USD as I bought one recently.
A vintage one goes away for the double.

I do t have moonwatch only handy at the minute but although a '69 is around 29xxxxxx to 31xxxxxx, only a certain, mid range is correct for a 220 bezel.

The non omega crystal is not a major issue, but subtract slightly from the price to source a new omega one.

The original 1171 bracelets are fairly common and can be found around $200.

Wow! Show me one, and I'll buy it in a flash!

Last I looked, even a pair of 633 end pieces (vintage) couldn't be found under USD 200

I bought an original 1171/633 a few months ago for £120GBP and one finished on UK ebay a few weeks ago for £125 with end links.

Slightly towards the lower end of the price scale but that's not far from the going rate on ebay UK.

Recently the 1171/1 seems to be selling for more than an original 1171. One just needs to make sure you're looking at a vintage 1171 and not a recent modern one which appear to be laser etch 1171.

I still doubt that a vintage 1171/633 can be bought below USD 200. But would be happy to be proven wrong (if I´m the buyer :D)

I'm picking this up. I got a picture of the mechanism with the serial and it checks out #30,998,xxx

For now I'm hoping to find a correct chrono arm and just have it cleaned, lubricated and adjusted.

Speaking of which; anybody cares to recommend a place I an send it to for that?

    [EDIT]

    Sorry, U.S. .

Not one person cares to recommend their favorite place to have a speedmaster serviced? Maybe it is not that important. As long as it runs, right?

It's not that no one cares, it's just that this question gets asked - and answered - a lot on these pages.
