I'm giving away a couple watches (others can join the fun!)

OK, don't get too excited. Nothing too special here, but I am giving away two watches including shipping to the continental US. I can ship elsewhere if you pay actual shipping cost. You can take one, both, or neither. The only catch is you must upgrade a membership to ad free. It can be your own membership or another member (just not me). This is a give away not a sale, so I won't accept an upgrade to me. I don't mind the ads, and will continue supporting the forum in that way for now. The membership upgrade must be done to receive a watch, if you are already upgraded you don't automatically get a watch. You'll have to upgrade someone else or go from Tier 1 to 2. Watch descriptions and pictures will be coming to this thread soon.

Send me a PM if you are interested in one or both of the watches. After we arrange things, you can do the upgrade and send me a screen capture. I'll update the thread once watches are taken.

First watch is no longer available. A fairly new quartz Wenger in good working condition. The bracelet fits up to 6.5" wrist, maybe a little bit more. I will also include lightly used and washed navy blue nato. I have taken it swimming with no problems, but there is no guarantee of water resistance. State of the seals is unknown. The watch dial and bezel is a very dark blue color, just in case it is not clear from the photos (someone asked).

Second watch is currently not working and will be a free add on to anyone who upgrades for another watch offered on this thread. I'll pay shipping in continental US, elsewhere receiver pays additional shipping cost. A bit of a project, a 1972 Caravelle. When I got it, it ran fast and only for a few hours. I never got around to getting it serviced, and for some reason, it no longer winds. It feels like it is fully wound, but it doesn't run. Its in reasonably nice shape and I think worth the effort to get it going. However, I am looking to pare down on projects. Looks nice on the grey perlon, which I can include. It is smallish, about 34mm.

Very generous! You’re a great example of what this forum is all about.

Just my way of giving a little bit back to the community. I certainly have gained a lot.

This is fantastic.

I might have overlooked it, but you might consider specifying how to go about formally requesting one of these watches and how to confirm the claimant has lived up to their side of the bargain. Contact you by PM? Make a public announcement?

In any case, a very generous offer and brilliant idea.

Others are welcome to hijack the thread and list free watches for memberships.

You hear that everyone? If you want to see what @JwRosenthal has to offer, you better pony up! This is a win, win, win situation: the forum gets a few bucks, someone no longer has to see ads, and your nephew gets a new watch (or a watchmaker gets a little work). I know you're on the fence about upgrading that membership.

I edited the original post, yes PM first. Then I will announce. Both watches are currently available.

Could have put them in the pay it forward draw we had last year where you took numbers and drew a number and the winner had to do the same.

I am thinking, there are a couple of folks on the edge about doing the upgrade and a little push would do it. I would put myself in that category. The thread had been up less than 8 hours, so we can give it time.

Looks like the Wenger is going to Australia, a few details to work out though.

The shipping probably cost more than the watch did originally

Nah, USPS first class international is pretty reasonable.

Why don't you post yours, the Caravelle can be a free add on watch to anyone who upgrades for another watch on the thread (since it is not running).

After JWR goes, this is probably a good place for my Bake Sale for Bill watch.
