So a few years ago I fell for the Bulova Accutron Hummer but couldn't cope with the vintage case size. I still felt something for the humming movement.

Now my new affair with brand Omega has brought a hummer back into my life. This was an EBAY purchase, the price a reasonable (I thought) £224 and described as
    "Brand: OMEGA
Seamaster f300 Hz COSC Chronometer "Tuning Fork"
    Type: Vintage Watch
    Reference number: 198.012
    Gent Wristwatch

condition: worn condition, very nice Condition !
case: stainless steel case original OMEGA with screw down stainless steel caseback,
caseback innert original signed OMEGA and the reference number 198.012
dial: black original OMEGA Swiss dial with steel hour markers, steel hands,
centre seconds, date display on 3h, OMEGA signed, the dial has a small "colour defect" on 9h
movement: rosè-golden tuning fork movement Swiss Made manufactur OMEGA cal. 1250, 12 jewels, based on ESA 9162, date quickset, movement stops by pull the crown, the battery is new, movement nr. 34216113 (approx. 1972), the movement runs very well and keeps time

crown: original OMEGA crown on 2h
measuring: diameter 41,5 mm (without crown), case length total 44 mm
    high: 10,5 mm
    crystal: scratchfree plexi-acrylic crystal
bracelet: original OMEGA stainless steel bracelet (ref. 1125) with stainless steel folding clasp (original OMEGA signed)
waterresistant: not waterresistant - collector's watch
box / booklets: no box / no booklets".

Just arrived, unboxed and cape cod clothed. I'll have the back off and resize the bracelet later. tmp-cam-837335657.jpg tmp-cam--33891722.jpg tmp-cam-1649927565.jpg tmp-cam-2055632862.jpg tmp-cam--1254330444.jpg tmp-cam--1360755301.jpg tmp-cam--2119855526.jpg tmp-cam-1211726839.jpg

I know what you mean about the itch for hummers but, personally, I never liked the flight-type case. Still I have three now, if you include the one for sale, and I have no doubt a few more will be added.

As an aside, is Paul accepting work now? It could be confusion on my part but I thought he'd eased off?

    Why does your watch hum?

Because it doesn't know the words.

I love these things. My granfather left me one. Sadly, I can't find a place to get the thing serviced.

Nice score. If you get the bug you can also find Connies in the form of hummers. I own two hummers, both Bulova, a 218 that I've had for years (I'm wearing it today) and an Astronaut I just got off the bay about a month ago that is currently being serviced.

Nice catch, shame about the small blemish, although maybe in reality it is hardly noticeable.

Here is mine, it' a great watch to own.

I had one hummer bug before, I just need to be selective on case sizes.

The dial blemish is one of those "now you see it if you like this way" things. It might bother me eventually.

I think these a pretty cool watches. Love the design of the movement even though it's not by Omega. Here is my 198.002

Get rid of the alkaline power cell. They do not last half as long as a proper silver oxide type and tend to leak acid. That will be the death for the movement. Renata 344 is the correct size.

Anyway, a nice hummer. Here is my newest hummer. Not an Omega, but still a nice watch.
