image.jpg image.jpg I don't know anything about these watches, but I really like this one. The seller said that he relumed the hands, but everything else is NOS. I would like some opinions if this is legit.
Also, will it be difficult to service this type of watch in the future?
    Thank you

I have a strong suspicion those hands aren't original to the watch! Too short! And luminous hands on a vitreous enamel dial that (seems to me) would never have had luminous numerals? Otherwise, quite nice.

Many of these old American watches are frankens. Nice looking frankens though, but still frankens. Got one or two laying around myself. Just make sure you get them cheap and are aware that parts can be a nightmare.

The place to ask about Illinois and Hamilton is http://vintagewatchforums.com - they have a few of the most knowledgeable Illinois and Hamilton collectors of all the websites.

Yes, the luminous hands were put on for WWI. Keep or change, no big.

Also, yes, you will be able to have this watch serviced for another hundred years.

I have a Waltham same period and serviced easily by an antique watchmaker. I'm not 100 % sure but I thought Illinois made cases, not watches, the Waltham has indeed an Illinois case and a 1901 movement.

As I say, not sure about the Illinois just check on it. Perhaps they did provide movements or had their own line.

There indeed was an Illinois watch CASE company which was not associated with the Illinois WATCH Co.
