Just received the El Primero Full Open 38mm from Crown and Caliber(always interested & had to see how it fit)… I’m planning on keeping only one(one watch guy). Side note, they both fit extremely well. FOIS vs Full OPEN. Which one wins?

True lol. Buuuut, nowadays do we really look at watches for the time/chronograph feature? I looked at both under a loupe… freaking amazing finishes on both!?!

My 2 cents worth:

The Speedmaster is a re-creation of a model long out of production, and the sapphire crystal lacks much of the visual charm that a generic Moonwatch has to offer. It seems less authentic, though I love that it is manual-wind

The El Primero just seems more authentic to me -- it's a modern, automatic chronograph, done up in an interesting way. And it would be a great conversation-starter! I say go with the El Primero.

To answer your follow up question, yes, I use my watch to tell time. Since I set my watches 5 minutes ahead (assuring I am five minutes ahead of the world 😗 ), it's even more important to use my wrist watch for time checks.

I'd go with the Zenith, it's just more interesting to me. But that racing strap is not appropriate, imo.

Edit- and this is If I had to choose between these two. Otherwise, I wouldn’t choose either 😉

I've combed the internet for a replacement strap... not too many people change the original black leather deployment on this particular Zenith... I'd really like to use this as a daily... Any suggestions? Aarron Bespoke(i.e. Combat Straps) makes awesome custom bands... I may go this route if i end up keeping the watch 😀. Decisions decisions...

Any suggestions?
I personally like it on the bracelet but I know that’ll be the most expensive route

I’m not a fan of combat straps so I don’t have any suggestions in that direction but the texture of this racing strap from B&S might play well with the texture of the skeleton dial

Keep both until you realize one of them has a flaw you can't live with.

Bajillions of good bespoke strap makers... torrestraps, delugs, tjc leather, etc

My vote is Omega, classic beauty, wear it anywhere goes with a tux or beach.
Zenith - a little bling thing, too much.

Thanks for the insight! Yea the steel bracelet is the bomb! Hard to find it sold separately... Not too many Zenith AD's here in San Diego.

Speedy. I'm not a fan of open work / skeleton dials. I also find it more challenging to read which is my first criteria when selecting a watch.

@Jones in LA is 100% correct that Speedy variation is meh…

but that Zenith is not exactly a winner either for most people.

On this forum you will see most tastes lean to the conservative. If it had been a non skeleton El P the answers would be very unanimous…
