A tough call I realize, since most of us in the collector community prefer to have complete examples. For me, it’s a pretty easy call.... it would be this beauty.... With this beauty, even with only 1/2 of the watch, you still have two complete dials, plus an an additional 1/2 dial as a bonus! Now I know some of you are thinking... “He’s crazy, I would have kept the other half!”, but hear me out... I prefer the bottom half because I live at home, not in New York, Paris or LA, and I know a guy in London. Can’t wait to hear other members weigh in!
I'd want the front half. Sell the back half for parts. I tried to keep the back of my AP when I listed it for sale, but nobody wanted the watch without the caseback so there's probably more desirability to the back half than I'm considering though. I don't like date windows, so maybe I should vote for keeping the left half of a watch.
In a similar vein, I might choose the right side of this specimen. Not only would I always know the time, but I'd be able to determine how much clothing to wear.
A few years back, I was playing basketball with one of my nephews and a few of his friends. One of the kids mentioned his half brother was coming soon, so I asked if it was the top half or the bottom half that was related.
I'd like to cut an Invicta in half... or maybe one of those fake Seamaster "Automaticos" that are always popping on Ebay. How about half of all "replica" watches? The world could do with less of them.
None of fhose are suitable to my eyes because the half I would pick is usually the strap part. Watches are not so interesting, the strap does all the work. Case in point.
The top half of the Angular Momentum Polyphemos. I don't know the purpose of the bottom half anyway...
