The Itailians are having a big problem with shipping via airlines right now if the seller is mailing by way of Italian Poste. I have gotten many requests for me to help find missing watches the last week or so and it is an airline issue. Italian Poste just like the USPS contracts with major airlines to ship their mail but are having issues with those contracts right now which is delaying international mail up to many weeks just to get out of Italy.
If you are planning a purchase from Italy over the next few weeks, have the seller use FedEx or UPS. These carriers have their own planes and are not being affected by these events.

    Best,
    Wayne

I don't know about UPS but from ongoing experience, avoid FedEx at all costs.

Guys, italian speaking: avoid italian postal service (Poste Italiane)!!! In/out Italy just with a private carrier!

I wont bore you all with the details because my situation is probably unique.
Because of my location I have to use FedEx via third party agent.
FedEx won't communicate with me directly to sort issues out because of the data protection law.

I think I was affected by the problem. I had a watch shipped to me from Italy about a month ago and it took more than three weeks to arrive!

I've bought from Italy before and it goes something like this. You will receive it in a few days as promised. Or it takes three weeks because they use horse and carts instead of vans. Or thirdly and more worryingly the postie is walking around all blinged up delivering welfare cheques.

Your situation is clearly very unusual. I've used FedEx to ship watches for many years, and have never had a problem.

Yes, he's right folks. I've been there and will vouch for the tenuous existence inhabitants lead there. :cautious:

Given the number of very serious watch collectors in Italy it must be a royal inconvenience not being able to trust the national postal service, so many eBay sellers refuse to even ship to Italy as they're concerned watches will be glommed en route.

Have been there a few times and fedex does not have any planes or vans suitable. Great ship out rates 2kg a day $0:whistling:

Or HMP Dartmoor - hence the need to use a middle man.

Couple of months back, I had a 18k polerouter date that went missing within the national postal system, even before it got shipped overseas. More recently, I used EMS instead - that worked fine, but there was a bit of a delay.
