It's easy to be cynical when deals like this show up, but maybe the guy doesn't realise what he's selling.
He may well have registered on the first watch site he found on the net just to sell the watch. If he's genuine then he obviously is not a watch enthusiast.

Entirely possible, but the listing reads like one posted by someone who knows a bit about watches..

then there's the ethical question - take advantage of a newb and get a decent watch for a steal, or inform him that he's way under market.

Personally, I'd lean towards scam, but could be worth chatting with the guy.

Seems to me he knows what he's talking about, with Speedmasters anyway. He knows what 321 is about, he knows how to date via serial number, and he uses terms like pushers, repainted, caseback, thick lugs, etc. He also knows how to recognize an Omega crystal.

seems like this one is a candidate for the re-lume yay or nay discussion...

After re-reading, it sure sounds like the guy knows what he's doing; offers inspection period, uses all the correct terms and lists all of the information needed...

I received a response via PM, and of course it "was his Father's", everything is functioning perfectly, and he is located in Peru..

His email was very nice, but even through PayPal, I don't think I'm going to pursue this one.

The bezel alone would go for at least $1100 on eBay

Absolutely. Gotta leave it! It's got the highly desirable "pale scrape" dial. ;-)

    Scammer.

Contacted him. After I told him that I was able to have the watch picked up (in Buenos Aires) he demanded to receive advance payment (because he had to pay bills). His email is neilsvintage@something, but suddenly he's called Edwin Chavez. But when I contacted him with another email address and I claimed to be from Argentina myself he had another name and was suddenly located in Spain.

Joking aside, I wonder how many people send money based on those fishing ads.

Same here, though I didn't get the "father" thing. Another Peruvian scam.
